Cannabis

Plant Touching vs. Ancillary Cannabis Companies

At present, all companies legally related to cannabis can be divided into two main groups:

  • Plant touching, as its name would indicate, involves coming into contact with either the marijuana plant or some form of THC. So, if you want to be a part of this group, you could decide to cultivate marijuana, become a distributor, manufacture concentrates, etc. Plant Touching/Cultivation Operations Stock companies take a high risk even in states where cannabis is legal — at least until the use of the plant becomes a common occurrence.

  • You could also become a part of the No-Touch group. It consists of companies that are indirectly related to the cannabis industry. They provide the first type of companies with a product or service. Thus, they won’t be touching the cannabis plant itself or any form of THC. So, companies that fulfill the growing, packaging, legal, or marketing needs are ancillary businesses.
  • It is great that you realize that the cannabis industry will welcome you with open doors. It’s market share is growing larger each year. Different kinds of products and services compete for the top spot all the time. However, we’d advise all budding entrepreneurs to put thought into the niche they intend to carve for themselves in it.
